TBILISI (Armenpress)–Georgia’s chief military headquarters have welcomed Armenia’s active involvement in the NATO Cooperative Best Efforts-2000 exercises–held in the Vaziani military base near Georgian capital Tbilisi last week.

The exercises were held within the framework of NATO’s Partnership for Peace Program. Georgia’s Defense Ministry also welcomed holding next year’s exercises in Armenia–describing it as "a very important step for increasing the regional stability."

Chief of Georgian armed forces staff Irakliy Batkusashvili told in an interview with Georgia Prime News agency that Russia might also join other countries in 2003 Best Cooperative Efforts.
