Cyprus President Meets With Armenian Ambassador

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Ambassador Vahram Kazhoyan presented his credentials to Cypriot President Glavkos Klerides on June 27 in Nicosia.

The press office of Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that after the presentation of credentials–the Armenian Ambassador and the Cypriot president had a private conversation. Ambassador Kazhoyan re-confirmed the invitation of Armenian President Robert Kocharian to President Klerides to visit Armenia.

Referring to the settlement of Cypriot problem–the president presented the details of the process of negotiations–stating that no results were registered yet because of the Turkish strict position. The Armenian Ambassador–in his turn–presented the top priority issues of Armenian foreign policy–political and economic condition of Armenia and developmen’s of the settlement of Karabakh conflict.

The sides outlined achievemen’s registered in bilateral political–military–cultural and other relations. They stated the necessity of deepening of Armenian-Cypriot cooperation. The sides highly evaluated the role of Armenian community of Cyprus in the process of the development of Armenia- Cypriot relations.

During his visit to Cyprus–the Armenian ambassador also met with Cypriot Defense Minister Sokrates Hasikos–Minister for Health Care of Cyprus Friksos Savides–Minister for Education and Culture Uranios Ioanidis–General Secretary of Cyprian Foreign Ministry Pashardis and other officials. He also met with the representatives of Armenian community.
