European Commission Gives Second Disbursement of Grant

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The European Commission has made 4.5 million Euros available for the Armenian government which will be released as a grant within the framework of EC Food Security Program. The grant will go to Armenian agriculture ministry–state cadaster committee–national statistical service as well as to the social security ministry to cover expenses for payment of family and orphanage allowances.

The grant came following a 2002 memorandum of understanding signed between the government and the European Commission.

The 4.5 million Euros is the second disbursement of an overall 9.5 million Euros worth grant. The first disbursement in the amount of 5 million was made available in December 2001.

Armenian finance and economy ministry said a new memorandum of understanding is supposed to be concluded by the European Commission and the government.
