BRUSSELS–The European Armenian Federation announced that 33 European organizations and institutions have added their signatures to the joint declaration against the Turkish-Armenian Reconciliation Commission (TARC). The declaration that was drafted last April is supported by over 100 European organizations based in France–Germany–Greece and Italy.
The new signatories include the Armenian Apostolic–Catholic and Protestant churches in addition to cultural and youth organizations and educational institutions.
"The decision of these organizations to add their names onto the petition comes at the moment when TARC is rising from its ashes and is preparing to meet in Turkey," declared Hilda Tchoboian–Chairperson of the European Armenian Federation–"with this declaration–the Armenia’s of Europe–whose families have been devastated by the genocide–condemn this initiative which reinforces Turkey’s revisionism of history upon the international scene."
"After their initial experience–the continued participation of the Armenian members within TARC can no longer be attributed to their ignorance. We would like to tell them that we–the Europeans of Armenian origin–not only resent the thoughtless attitude they have taken up by participating in the affair–but will also hold them responsible for any consequences their stance may have on the fight for justice that we are leading in Europe," concluded the President of the Federation.
