Lives of Armenia’s Still Being Threatened At Scene of Racial Strife

MOSCOW (Armenpress)–The situation in the Russian town of Krasnoarmeisk–about 50 km from Moscow–remains tense as still as there are people who are keen on further aggravation of the climate. It was in this town with 28,000 residents that crowds of Russian youths went on a rampage last week detecting Armenian nationals and beating them severely.

The severe brawl erupted after a dispute between Armenia’s and Slavs in a local cafe in which the Armenian was reported to have stabbed the Russian.

The Armenian was immediately arrested–however–the news gave an incentive to local Slavs to break into Armenian houses and subject them to severe beating.

Dozens of Armenia’s–many of which live in this town without proper documen’s–were taken to hospitals with severe injuries.

Witnesses say they have seen leaflets in different places of the town calling for another rally to demand expulsion of all illegally living Armenia’s and other non-Slavs and also release of several local Russian who were arrested in the wake of the clash.
