CIS Country Reps Discuss Program On Joint Struggle Against Crime

MINSK (Armenpress)–A session of CIS working group on coordination of documen’s concerning the struggle against crime started its work on July 17 in Minsk. The participants of the session will discuss programs concerning joint struggle against crime in 2003-2005 and the illegal turnover of drugs. They will also consider a decision of CIS countries’ leaders’ council concerning the foundation of a department of CIS anti-terrorism center in Central Asia.

The session is attended by the representatives of all 12 CIS member countries. The realization of the previous joint program gave a fresh muscle to cooperation between CIS countries and struggle against international terrorism and crime. But the present condition of crime still continues to bother and–particularly–the new threats (international terrorism–drugs illegal turnover–illegal migration) demand maximum vigilance. The participants of the session stressed that further activation of collective efforts directed to prevention of crime is necessary and very important.
