YEREVAN (Armenpress)–There are 33,000 historical-cultural monumen’s in Armenia. The protection of these invaluable monumen’s has become an imperative. The Armenian National Commission for Monumen’s and Historical Places Protection public organization (IKOMOS-Armenia)–operating in Armenia’since 2001–aims to restore 350 of them.
The chairman of the Armenian Agency of Historical and Cultural Monumen’s Protection Gagik Gyurjian–at a conference devoted to the protection of the Armenian monumen’s on Wednesday–said that the above mentioned organization aims to present Armenian monumen’s to the world and to receive necessary financial assistance for the restoration.
IKOMOS-Armenia makes every effort to include such Armenian monumen’s as Noravank–Yereruyk temple and Dvin ancient place–in UNESCO’s World Heritage Registry.
Gyurjian said that the organization has presented about ten programs to the World Monumen’s Foundation to receive funds for the restoration of Gndevank–Haghartsin–Hayots Tar and other monumen’s. IKOMOS-Armenia also intends to hold an international seminar–devoted to the issues of the protection of ruined monumen’s.
