YMCA Recognizes Armenian Genocide

(OAXTEPEC)–The 15th World Council of YMCAs ended Saturday–July 20th with every participant taking home a small piece of cloth–which forms part of larger clothes–which were used during the daily worships. This cloth symbolizes their commitment to continue working in the next four years in the directions approved by the Council during its deliberations in Oaxtepec–Mexico from July 15-20.

During these 5 days–the World Council addressed a variety of issues and on the last day important resolutions were adopted in the framework of the finalization of the Organization Review Process–as well as the results of the Youth Council–the Violence Against Women Workshop and the Challenge 21 Festival.

In relation to the Armenian Genocide–the World Alliance of YMCAs adopted a resolution recognizing and condemning the genocide committed against the Armenian people. It calls on all National YMCA movemen’s to similarly recognize and condemn it.
