Armenian Foreign Minister Visits Thailand

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Within the framework of the visit to Thailand–Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian met with Thai Prime Minister Thaksi Shinavatra on August 6. During the meeting–both sides stated that there are no political contradictions between Armenia and Thailand and the cooperation–particularly in international structures is quite successful. The necessity of economic cooperation was mutually stated. As a first step towards the achievement of this goal it was agreed to hold meetings between the businessmen of the two countries in order to activate and strengthen business ties.

Minister Oskanian also met with Thai Minister for Public Health Suradat Keyuraphan. During the meeting–both ministers referred to the perspectives of cooperation in the sphere of health care. The Thai side displayed an interest towards the scientific novelties worked out by Armenian medics–including "Armenicum."

The Armenian foreign minister also met with the Advisor of Thai Prime Minister Krirg-Kray Jirapaet. The sides touched upon the perspectives of enlargement and deepening of bilateral political–economic and cultural ties and the steps to be taken towards this.

At the end of the visit–a joint statement was signed at the Thai Foreign Ministry dedicated to the 10th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between Armenia and Thailand. Within the framework of his visit–Minister Oskanian also met with the representatives of Armenian community of South-East Asia.
