Karabakh Government Official Reacts to EU Decision

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–According to Nagorno Karabakh press-secretary Alexander Krikorian–the European’s Unions decision to rule the upcoming Karabakh presidential election illegitimate lies in the fact that the republic remains internationally unrecognized.

During an interview with "Azadutiun" radio station–Krikorian noted that the European Union’s decision was also heavily influenced by the powers in Baku–who have not restrained themselves from interfering in past elections. Krikorian stated that this situation has been created because the elections that take place in Karabakh meet international standards–while those in Azerbaijan do not. The government official continued to elaborate on this issue by expressing his opinion that Azerbaijan would not interfere in the elections if the process fell below recognized electoral norms.

"I believe that the international community well understands this top-level election in Karabakh not only refrains from complicating–but on the contrary–assists our position during the negotiation process." announced Krikorian.
