Japan Allocates New Grant to Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The mayor of Yerevan Robert Nazarian and a senior representative of the Japanese Embassy in Moscow have sealed an agreement in Yerevan on August 13 whereby the Japanese government will provide Armenia with road building machinery worth 545 million Yens. Mayor Nazarian mentioned that the signing of the agreement followed a 3-year preliminary stage–during which the provisions of the agreement and the main directions of the expenditures of sums–which have been foreseen by the agreement–were specified.

The new machinery will be utilized in a major road repair and rehabilitation project underway in the Armenian capital and provinces–implemented on Lincy Foundation funds–released by a US-based billionaire of Armenian origin Kirk Kerkorian.
