PACE Monitoring Group Arrives in Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The co-reporters of monitoring group of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Irena Belohorska and Erzi Taskernia arrived in Yerevan on August 19.

The reporters met with the director of OSCE Yerevan office Roy Reed–representatives of international and public organizations–and Jehovah’s witnesses. They also visited Nubarashen’s penitentiary and reformatory colony for women and children in Abovian.

The PACE reporters will have meetings with the representatives of mass media. Meetings with Armenian Justice Minister David Harutyunian–Armenian general prosecutor Aram Tamazian–Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian–National Security Minister Karlos Petrosian–Armenian Interior Minister Hayk Harutyunian–Chairman of Central Electoral Commission Artak Sahradian are also planned.

On August 21–the reporters will meet with chairman of foreign commission of Armenian National Assembly (NA)–leader of Armenian delegation in PACE Hovhannes Hovhannissian–chairman of National Assembly’s commission on state–legal issues Viktor Dallakian–chairman of National Assembly’s commission on defense–national security and internal issues Vahan Hovhannissian–leaders of factions and groups of Armenian parliament. The PACE representatives will also meet with Armenian deputy speaker Tigran Torosian.

At the end of the visit the reporters will meet with Armenian President Robert Kocharian–Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian and Mayor of Yerevan Robert Nazarian.
