COOPERATION AGREEMENT TO BE SIGNED IN YEREVAN
In seeking to develop relations with socialist parties of CIS countries–ARF Supreme Body (SB) chairman Armen Rustamian–SB member Edward Kazarian and the head of the ARF Bureau’s Moscow office–Seyran Baghdasarian visited Kiev last week.
SB member Kazarian said the meetings with the Socialist Democratic (United) Party (SDP) of Ukraine were efficient and a cooperation agreement was reached.
The ARF members also met with the chairman of the SDP faction in the Ukrainian Rada’s security and defense committee–Leonid Kravchuk and Ukraine’s ex-president. During the meeting–the two sides emphasized similarities in their programs and focused on the ways and means of cooperation. Chairman of SDP’s executive committee–Yuri Zagarodny–and vice-chairman of the SDP–Nikolay Shevchenko–briefed the ARF representatives on the party’s activities in the Rada and the government.
ARF representatives also met with the Ukrainian Rada’s security and defense committee vice-chairman Boris Andresiuk–to discuss cooperation in the areas of security and defense.
Youth related issues were also discussed. At the meeting with the chairman of SDP’s Youth Socialist Congress–Vadim Msiura–cooperation between the youth and student organizations was discussed.
The group decided to sign–in Yerevan–a cooperation agreement between the Socialist Democratic Party of Ukraine and Armenian Revolutionary Federation. Ukrainian press and television covered the ARF delegation’s visit.
