President Kocharian Inspects Military Bases

YEREVAN (Yerkir)–On November 9-11–President Robert Kocharian and Defense Minister Serge Sarkisian inspected military bases located on the border of Armenia–including those located on the cease-fire line. Their intent was to inspect the progress of combat and tactical training–and to learn more about the social conditions of servicemen.

Meeting with the commanding officers–President Kocharian said there are no primary and secondary issues in that all of them are important–and advised that military regulations should be categorically observed.

During meetings with their Commander-in-Chief–soldiers spoke about the need to improve living and service conditions.

On his way to the military bases–Kocharian stopped at border villages to talk to local residents.

Summarizing his visit–Kocharian said he was delighted with the overall situation of the army–and mentioned that the secret of success is continued military improvement and development.
