Gathering at Yerevan’s Moscow Theater in celebration of ARF’s 112th Anniversary

YEREVAN–Marking the 112th anniversary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation–a celebration was organized in Yerevan’s Moscow theater–with the participation of Armenian political parties leaders–National Assembly members–foreign diplomats–government members–representatives of NGO’s and businessmen–along with ARF Bureau and ARF Supreme Body members–and many ARF members.

Addressing the gathering–ARF Armenia Supreme Body member Artashes Shahbazian said "Today–standing strongly on its independent land and with the victory of Karabagh–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation believes in the future because it believes in the power and will of the Armenian people."

Emphasizing prudence and strict adherence to goals–Armenia Supreme Body Representative Armen Rustamian said: "Today–more than ever–we should know how to distinguish important issues from secondary ones–evaluate and consider the road we have taken in the years since independence–see the losses and achievement we have had since then. Adoption of values based on national ideals should not mean a mere declaration of provisions that are components of such values; these values should be adopted and embodied."

Stressing that Armenia is on the eve of two key elections–presidential and parliamentary–he stated that there are unfortunately many whose only goal is to gain power. "The reality is that there are still numerous unsolved social problems; corruption and nepotism continue to rule–but it is quite obvious that useful seeds have been planted."

The leader of the ARF faction in the National Assembly Aghvan Vartanian–spoke about the party’s position and role in the political spectrum of Armenia and underscored that the ARF’s goal is to make Armenia a strong social state.

Present at the event–Vazgen Manukian of the National Democratic Union–told Yerkir that–despite some differences in position–it is a fact that "the ARF has always played an important role in the history of the Armenian nation."

The leader of the Renewed Communist Party of Armenia Yuri Manukian–said that it is critical today to unite all the national and patriotic forces in the name our country’s future instead of fighting for power. "As an Armenian–I congratulate the ARF on its 112th anniversary and hope it always maintains its national ideology," he added.

The National Assembly Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Hovhannes Hovhannisian–said that the ARF has always played a great role in the life of the Armenian nation–and it is important that the ARF continues to carry out its programs that bear democratic values.

Video clips on ARF history were screened during the celebration.

The celebration concluded with the Tatul Altunian ensemble’s performances of Armenian folk songs and dances.
