Prelacy Publishes Eastern Armenian Textbooks

The Western Prelacy announced publication of two Eastern Armenian textbooks for kindergarten and first grade students.

Undertaken by the Western Prelacy in order to meet the deman’s of the community–the project to publish Armenian Language–Hai Tahd and Armenian History textbooks commenced more than a decade ago; the majority of the textbooks have already been published.

The project–however–included a second phase to reproduce the textbooks in Eastern Armenian as well. With this purpose–the Prelacy supported efforts of Shamlian Armenian School’s Administration and Parents Organization to create a committee work on the tedious task.

The project’s aim was to accommodate Eastern Armenian students of Shamlian as well as Richard Tufenkian Nursery schools.

The committee was to review existing Prelacy textbooks and revise them to Eastern Armenian. With the release of the first two volumes–one of which is currently used by the school–the committee has accomplished extensive and pertinent work.

Prelate Mushegh Mardirossian and the Executive Council express their deep gratitude to the Eastern Armenian language textbook committee and the Parents’ Organization–as well as all those who morally–financially or by practical means supported the project. We are hopeful that our further steps will be as successful and the textbook series will be completed as soon as possible.
