YEREVAN (Yerkir/Armenpress)–Boosting economic cooperation between the capital cities of Russia and Armenia was high on the agenda during a meeting on January 31 between Armenian president Kocharian and visiting Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov.
On Thursday Luzhkov and Yerevan Mayor Robert Nazarian signed an agreement to foster economic–educational and cultural ties between Moscow and Yerevan.
Luzhkov said that Moscow municipalities–with their extensive experience in managing city infrastructures– stand ready to share ideas and information with Yerevan counterparts.
Kocharian revealed that major reforms to efficiently govern the city are underway.
The sides noted that commercial exchange between the two cities accounts for a third of Russian-Armenian trade and that is great potential expansion.
Luzhkov–who was last in Armenia four years ago remarked on visible positive changes.
