In preparation for the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915–President Robert Kocharian signed a decree on Tuesday creating a governmental commission to undertake the organizing of commemoration activities.
The commission would be chaired by the prime minister of Armenia and would include–among others–the vice speaker of the National Assembly–the ministers of foreign affairs–education and science–trade and economic development–of regional government and coordinating the operation of infrastructures–and many academicians–including the rector of Yerevan State University.
The commission is responsible for formulating and presenting its draft of 90th anniversary commemoration programs by September 15–2003. The government–in turn–must review the proposal and secure appropriate financing.
