Public Radio Programming to Help Voters Ahead of Elections

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Public Radio launched a series of new programs on May 12 aimed at keeping the public informed on all issues of national importance. Priority is currently being given to the upcoming May 25 parliamentary elections and a national referendum on constitutional changes.

The programs–initiated by the Armenia office of the International Fund for Electoral Systems (IFES)–are aimed at providing the legal basics of the two major events.

The IFES Yerevan office said it has prepared three programs–two of which are dedicated to parliamentary elections and the third to the referendum. They provide detailed information about the parliament–lawmakers and the nature of the proposed reforms.

The programs–each lasting five minutes–are broadcast three times a day and will air until May 23. They programs are also picked up and rebroadcast by other local radio stations. Two reels have also been prepared to air on TV.
