Levon Mkrtchian to Lead ARF Faction in NA

YEREVAN (Yerkir)–Former Minister of Science and Education Levon Mkrtchian will lead the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s (ARF) faction in the newly-elected National Assembly. The decision was made at the first meeting of ARF faction members held on Thursday at the Simon Vratsian Center in Yerevan. Hrair Karapetian was elected the secretary of ARF’s parliamentary faction.

Mkrtchian holds a PhD in History and is a professor at the Yerevan State University. Between 1993 and 1995–Mkrtchian was a senior member of the ARF Central Committee of Armenia’s political body–and from 1995-1996 was a member of the ARF Armenia Responsible Body.

Karapetian was the governor of the Aragatsotn region from 1998-2003; from 1990-1998 Karapetian was a member of the ARF Central Committee of Armenia–then the Supreme Body.
