Armenian Sculptor Wins at Ravenna Biennale

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The jury of an influential international biennial festival in the Italian province of Ravenna picked Armenian sculptor Zareh Shahbazian as one of two first place winners for his sculpture patterned as a pre-pagan monument. Shahbazian shared the first place award with German’sculptor Karsten Tommer. Armenian sculptor Suren Malkhasian was awarded the bronze medal.

Heading the seven-member Armenian delegation to Italy–Garegin Davtian said that this year’s festival was somewhat politicized as participants had to present works dedicated to Europe’s three major religions.
