ARF Jamboree Kicks off with Salute to Freedom Fighters

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)-The opening of the eighth Pan-Armenian ARF Youth and Student Jamboree–dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Artsakh liberation struggle–began on August 5 at the "Yerablur" pantheon where Armenian freedom fighters are buried.

More than 350 participants–divided into three age groups–performed during the flag ceremony–sang the Armenian national anthem–and then placed wreaths at the grave of the Unknown Soldier.

Speaking at the opening–ARF Youth Affairs office administrator Sarkis Mkrtchian stressed that youth must be educated to embody Armenian national ideology in order to fight against injustices and to restore the rights of Armenia’s.

ARF Bureau representative Hrant Markarian praised the commitment of the youth present at the event. The participants then left for Garmrakar to kick-off the ten-day event–the last two of which they will spend in Artsakh meeting with the leadership of Mountainous Karabagh Republic.

The jamboree closing ceremonies are scheduled to take place in the Stepanakert central square on August 14.
