Canada’s ETHNOMEDIA 2003 Awards Local Armenia’s

HORIZON NEWSPAPER STAFF MEMBERS AND ARS SCHOOL TEACHER RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

In celebration of Canada’s Ethnomedia 2003–The Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada honored individuals who have enriched community life.

On the occasion–Canada’s Minister for the Status of Women and Multiculturalism Dr. Jean Augustine–presented the "Outstanding Achievement and Community Service Award" to–among others–Canada’s Horizon Armenian newspaper staff members Tsoline Shamlian–Tina Soulahian–Sarkiss Ghazarian–and ARS Toronto Day School teacher Hasmig Kharlakian.

Founded on May 28–1979–Horizon Weekly was named Quebec’s ‘best community newspaper’ in September 2002–receiving the award from the Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps. Newspapers from only eight other Canadian provinces received the honor.
