Oskanian Minsk Group Co chair to Meet Thursday

YEREVAN (Combined Sources)–Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian will be meeting with the Russian–US–and French co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group–in Paris on October 2.

There are speculations that the co-chairs will present to Oskanian the new proposals for a resolution to the Mountainous Karabagh Republic (MKR) conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the new proposals on September 16–Oskanian had stated–"The co-chairs say that it will be a new version of the old proposals. . . So it appears that there will be continuity with new emphases. "

Visiting Armenia on September 10–the new Russian co-chair of the Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov told the press that the Minsk Group co-chairs would be putting the finishing touches on a peace plan–emphasizing "I am not prepared to disclose the nature of those proposals. You can call them new or modified."

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the largest regional security organization in the world with 55 participating States from Europe–Central Asia and North America. It is active in early warning–conflict prevention–crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation. The OSCE created the Minsk Group in 1992 to facilitate a political solution of the MKR conflict.
