Ghapan Residents Greet Glendale Delegation at City Entrance

GHAPAN (Yerkir)–Residents of Ghapan greeted the Glendale Ghapan Sister City Association delegation at the entrance of the city–offering the traditional welcoming of salt and bread.

The Governor of the Syunik region Edik Parseghian–Ghapan mayor Armen Garbedian–and ARF Ghapan members were among those to receive the guests on Tuesday evening.

During a meeting with delegation members–mayor Garbedian welcomed the relationship established between the sister cities–and pointed to the city’s resources–and industrial–educational and cultural means as a focal point of interest and possible areas of cooperation.

Representatives of the two sister cities also discussed respective government and socio-economic structures.

As a symbol of friendship–the Glendale delegation handed over the keys and flag of Glendale–and a plague registering the relationship between Glendale and Ghapan.

Meeting with the governor of Syunik–the delegation discussed possible areas of cooperation as well as the region’s system of governance.

Late in the evening–the guest from Glendale attended a reception in their honor.

The Glendale delegation will observe the city’s education and health sectors on Wednesday–and will present over fifty computers to the fourteen schools of Ghapan.
