Oskanian and EU Rep. Consider MKR Conflict Resolution Post Azeri Elections

YEREVAN (Combined Sources)–As a part of his visit to the region–European Union’s (EU) special representative to the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie–arrived in Armenia on Monday–to brief Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian on EU’s outlook for cooperation between the countries of the South Caucasus–as well as the goals of his mission–following the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan–and prior to Parliamentary elections in Georgia.

In the light of the recent presidential elections in Azerbaijan–the two discussed the present stage of the Karabagh conflict resolution process–and the importance of the upcoming visit to the region by OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

In reviewing the meeting of the EU-Armenia Cooperation Council that took place in Brussels on September 30–Oskanian and Talvitie agreed that efficient implementation of the partnership and cooperation agreement is crucial.

Armenian President Robert Kocharian is scheduled to visit to Brussels in December in a step to expand the partnership between Armenia and European Union.
