Martuni Getap Road Opens

YEREVAN (Armenpress/Noyan Tapan)–At the opening ceremony of 40 kilometer Martuni-Getap section of Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway on October 24–Armenia’s President Kocharian said that the reconstruction of the road will significantly contribute to boosting Armenia’s economy. Specifically–the Selim pass section will enable transport of goods from Iran along the road. The road also holds strategic importance in that it connects Vartenis–located on border with Azerbaijan–with the rest of Armenia. The complete construction cost of the 57.5 km road is around $8.9 million–funded by the Lincy Foundation.
