Montebello Holy Cross Cathedral Marks 80th Anniversary

MONTEBELLO–Festivities commemorating the 80th anniversary of Montebello’s Holy Cross Cathedral took place during the weekend of November 1–with a dinner banquet and a special mass.

Over 500 supporters gathered on Saturday for the celebration dinner at Baghramian Hall. Representatives from the ARF "Tro" Gomideh–Mesrobian Armenian School–and sister organizations–as well as Montebello mayor Kathy Salazar were on hand to show their support.

Emceeing the event was the chairman of 80th anniversary organizing committee Nazareth Dzadourian; Western Region ANC chairman Raffi Hamparian delivered the keynote speech.

Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian–Prelacy Executive Council member Antranig Kasbarian–and chairman of the Board of Trustees Hovsep Gharibian–all commended the church’s cultural and spiritual contributions to the Armenian community.

After a candle lighting ceremony–the evening’s artistic program kicked-off with a slide show tracing the founding of the church to present day.

Sunday’s commemorations included a blessing from Catholicos Aram I and a heartfelt sermon delivered by Prelate Mardirossian.
