Baku Wants Increased Russian Involvement in Karabagh Regulation

BAKU (Armenpress)–Azerbaijan’s foreign minister Vilayat Guliyev announced on national television on Sunday–that intensified Russian involvement on the part of the OSCE Minsk Group Russian co-chair would yield positive results.

"Russia has more possibilities and resources to do that than other states," he remarked. "The region still has close relations with Russia–and this is especially true for Armenia–a party to the Karabagh conflict. In that light a more active Russian role will bring good results."

Noting Russia’s influence–and that the Karabagh conflict originated on territory of the former Soviet Union–Guliyev stressed–"We–therefore–would like to draw on the resources of the neighboring country more fully."
