Annual ARS Festival May 15 16

ORGANIZERS STEP UP ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAM IN ANTICIPATION OF BOOMING NUMBER OF VISITORS

GLENDALE–Armenian music–art–dance–history–and culinary heritage will merge under one roof at the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Western Region’s third annual festival May 15 and 16–at the Glendale Civic Auditorium.

Organized to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the ARS–the annual festival–which attracted 10,000 Armenian and non-Armenian visitors alone last year–will offer even a greater variety of activities–programs–and exhibits to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

"We intend to create a little Armenia in Glendale with expanded programming for children and interesting exhibits for adults," explains Nova Hindoyan–president of the ARS Western Regional Executive.

Enjoy traditional wedding festivities and an Armenian costume show. Come and have your picture taken in traditional Armenian costume. Try dancing to Armenian music with a group of beginners. Come and learn how to make string cheese–and other culinary delicacies. Listen to lively stories with a group of children. Enjoy roaming around exhibits of Armenian items: books–arts and crafts–drinks–and food. Delight in live Armenian music. Come to meet old friends and make new ones. Let your children spare no energy in the kids’ zone. Enjoy with your family and friends.

Festival proceeds will go to fund various ARS activities that include providing youth counseling–education scholarships–orphan and elderly support–as well as social and educational services to the community through the ARS Child Youth and Family Guidance Center–which takes a multidisciplinary approach to finding solutions to complex family situations.

The Glendale Civic Auditorium is located at 1401 N. Verdugo Avenue in Glendale.
