Armenian Historian’s Book on Genocide Published in Turkey

YEREVAN (Yerkir)–A book about the Armenian genocide by Nikolay Hovhannisyan–director of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences Institute of Oriental Studies–has been published and is for sale in Turkey.

"The Armenian Genocide: Armenocide," presents to Turkish readers the viewpoint of the Armenian historian on what is a sore subject in Turkey. The book was translated into Turkish in 2002 and was published by Ragip Zarakolu who has published several books on controversial topics in Turkey.

Hovhannisyan says he is one of the few people in Turkey who dares to speak of the Armenian genocide and the need to recognize it.

At the urging of the publisher–the author wrote a special preface for the Turkish edition of the book.
