Armenian National Committee PAC Endorses Paul Krekorian for California State Assembly

GLENDALE–The California Armenian National Committee Political Action Committee (ANC-PAC) announced Thursday its endorsement of Burbank School Board President Paul Krekorian for California’s 43rd Assembly District. The endorsement followed a thorough evaluation of all candidates who have announced their intention to run for the 43rd Assembly District seat.

Recognizing the importance of this election in the district with the highest concentration of Armenian Americans in California–the ANC-PAC organized a local task force to evaluate each of the candidates seeking office. The task force is comprised of members from each of the constituent communities in the 43rd Assembly District which includes Burbank–Glendale–La Crescenta–Los Feliz/Silverlake–North Hollywood–and Toluca Lake. As part of the formal evaluation process–the task force researched each candidate’s backgrounds in public service–their positions on key issues and interviewed each candidate on his plans with regard to issues of concern to the overall community.

"This Assembly seat needs fresh leadership–a person who can represent the changing face and needs of the 43rd Assembly District. After an extensive evaluation process–the ANC-PAC has concluded that Paul Krekorian is the best candidate with the right skills and vision to represent all constituents of the 43rd Assembly District," said Peter Musurlian–ANC-PAC Task Force spokesperson. "The time for change has come–and we are confident that as Assemblyman–Paul will do a great job in representing the interests of citizens in this district as he has been doing in other elected positions in recent years."

Due to term limits–the Assembly seat which is currently occupied by Dario Frommer will be vacated in 2006. The 43rd Assembly District seat has traditionally been one held by Democrats and has therefore attracted two other Democratic candidates to join the race–former Assemblyman Scott Wildman and Glendale City Councilman Frank Quintero. Krekorian–Wildman–and Quintero will face off in a three-way democratic primary election in June 2006. It is widely believed that the winner of the democratic primary election will have a strong lead in the following November General Election.

The ANC-PAC is a non-partisan California political action committee that seeks to elevate the level of political participation of Armenian American voters. Working in coordination with a network of supporters throughout the State of California–the ANC-PAC actively advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
