Azeri Ambassador to US Responds to Congressmen

BAKU (Armenpress)–Azeri ambassador to the US Hafiz Pashaev sent a letter addressed to the co-chairmen of the Congressional Caucus on Armenia Joe Knollenberg and Frank Pallone as a response to their letter about the destruction of Armenian cross stones in Nakhichevan.

In his written response–Pashaev particularly expressed regret that the Congressmen referred to "sources that have not yet been checked." He added that the Azeri Defense Ministry denies the accusations. "Nearly 30,000 Armenia’s live in Azerbaijan at present. Our country highlights the protection of historic–cultural and architectural monumen’s," he said.

Trend news agency reported that in addressing the Congressmen–the Azeri diplomat said that he shares their concern about the issue.

The two co-chairmen had sent a letter to the Azeri ambassador concerning the destruction of Armenian cross stones and monumen’s in the Armenian cemetery at Julfa–Nakhichevan.
