ANC Professional Network Raises $4 000 for the Armenian Relief Society’s Sponsor a Child Program and Orphanage Project

GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee Professional Network (ANC-PN) held its 4th Annual Christmas Mixer on December 23–2006 at Caf Santorini in Pasadena. The event drew over 300 young professionals–students–and supporters who had an opportunity to mix and mingle while contributing to a wonderful Armenian cause during the holiday season. Due to the generous donations of supporters–the ANC-PN was able to raise $4,000 for the Armenian Relief Society’s Sponsor-a-Child Program and Orphanage Project.

"This year’s event–as in years before–proved to be both a memorable night and meaningful to its beneficiaries. The generosity of our supporters will bring the joy of Christmas to many needy children in Armenia and sustain them throughout their years. This was our objective and we are thankful to our members for actualizing it," said Boghos Patatian–ANC-PN Executive Committee member.

The funds that were donated to the Sponsor-a-Child Program this year were used to sponsor Haig–a 14 year old boy from the village of Aykesdan–in the Askeran region of Karabagh–until the age of 18. Through this program–sponsorships are provided to orphans who may have lost one or both parents. Since the number of orphans has increased in the recent years–there is a great need for sponsorships. The cost of sponsoring an Armenian child for one year is merely $130.

The majority of the funds were used towards the ARS Orphanage Project to renovate the Sosse Kindergarten in the village of Aganapert–in the Shahumian Region of Karabagh–where 64 students are currently enrolled. The contributions donated towards the Orphanage Project are used to fund the renovation of other "ARS Sosse Kindergartens" throughout various regions in Karabagh.
