Crescenta Valley Community Marks First Anniversary of Church

LA CRESCENTA–The Crescenta Valley community last month marked the first anniversary of the establishment of a church at a banquet held at the Brandview Collection, where more than $50,000 was raised for the construction of a church in that community. At the request of the community, the Western Prelacy of Armenian Apostolic Church created a parish and appointed a board of trustees to lead church affairs in that community. Beginning from June 19, 2005 the Unity Church of the Valley has been used as the gathering for La Crescenta parishioners. The community has been raising funds during various community events to construct a church in La Crescenta. The banquet was attended by several political and community leaders. Master of Ceremonies, Glendale City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian, emphasized the importance of having an Armenian church for the growing community to call its own. He also adeptly led the fundraising effort during the gathering. At the conclusion of a brief program, a video presentation briefed the community members about the construction project, as well as recapped the activities of the parish in the past year. As a result of the generosity of community members and organizational chapters, $50,000 was raised for the construction of a new church facility.
