GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region has donated the Armenian Film Foundation’s documentary series for the Institute and Museum of the Armenian Genocide in Yerevan located at Tsitsernakaberd, the world reknowned Armenian Genocide memorial. During an ANCA-WR meeting at the museum this past August, ANCA-WR Chairman, Steve Dadaian, discussed current research on the Armenian Genocide as well as opportunities to collaborate with museum director, Dr. Lavrenty Barseghian. The museum was designed and contracted after the independence of Armenia in 1991 and was opened to the public in 1995 on the 80th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In addition to many historic documen’s, the museum has invaluable documentation of maps and tables presenting the geography, demographics and numbers of atrocities committed by the Turkish government. Many documen’s, including eyewitness reports and international documen’s condemning the Armenian Genocide are also presented in the museum. "At the time of our meeting, it became apparent that the Armenian Film Foundation documentaries would be a valuable resource to scholars working with the museum," remarked Dadaian. Established in 1979, the Armenian Film Foundation (AFF) is a non-profit, educational and cultural organization dedicated to the documentation and preservation of Armenian heritage in multi-media formats. The ANCA-WR honored AFF founder and board chairman, J. Michael Hagopian with its "Man of the Year" award at its 2000 Annual Banquet. "We are pleased to facilitate this and glad that this educational film series will be included in the institute’s collection," noted Dadaian. The ANCA is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots political organization. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the United States and affiliated organizations around the world, the ANCA actively advances the concerns of the Armenian-American community on a broad range of issues.
