THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.–The Armenian Film Foundation’s Portraits of Courage poster of 80 Armenian Genocide survivors’ faces has been released and is now available through the foundation’s website at www.armenianfilm.org as well as at Armenian bookstores in the Los Angeles area. The AFF is looking for sponsors to purchase posters to place in Armenian schools, libraries, museums, churches and other institutions. The poster, dramatic for its graphics and size, depicts the faces of 80 Armenia’s who survived the deportation and massacre of 1.5 million Armenia’s at the hands of the Turks. The stories of a number of the survivors on the poster were filmed by AFF Chairman J. Michael Hagopian, who has completed two of the films in a trilogy entitled The Witnesses. Hagopian began filming Genocide survivors nearly 40 years ago, and the foundation, which has documented 400 survivors and witnesses in filmed interviews in its archives, is in the process of having these interviews digitized for posterity. The faces on the large poster, which measures 27 inches by 40 inches, were sponsored by family or friends who wanted to preserve the memory of their loved ones. Proceeds from the poster go towards completion of Caravans Along the Euphrates, the third and final film of The Witnesses trilogy, the crown jewel of the AFF’s documentary films. The cost of the poster is $25 online, $30 at the Abril and Sardarabad bookstores in Glendale. To purchase a poster or donate one to an Armenian organization visit www.armenianfilm.org or call the AFF office at 805-495-0717. In addition, the AFF has a dozen DVD titles of award-winning documentaries on Armenian topics available for purchase at $25 apiece, both online at www.armenianfilm.org and at the Armenian bookstores.
