GLENDALE–Rafi Manoukian and Greg Krikorian were unsuccessful in their bid for Glendale City Council during Tuesday’s elections, while other ANC-PAC endorsed candidates Mary Boger and Nairi Nahabedian (GUSD Board), as well as Vahe Peroomian and Tony Tartaglia (GCC Board) won their races during an election that saw low voter turnout and a large pool of candidates vying for office. "Engaging the ANC-PAC in the electoral process by the candidates will ensure higher voter turnout, as well as contributions to campaigns," said ANC-PAC spokesperson Pierre Chragchian in discussing Tuesday’s vote. "When the field is cluttered–as was the case for the Glendale City Council race–candidates’ affiliation with the ANC-PAC has traditionally shown increased voter participation and has empowered voters to take part in the process–both financially and at the polls," added Chragchian. Winning in the Glendale City Council race were Montrose Shopping Park Association President John Drayman who collected 8,576 votes or 23.3 percent of the votes, and 10-year councilman Dave Weaver, who finished with 6,582 votes, or 17.9 percent. Manoukian was behind with 700 votes with 5,906 votes (16 percent) and Krikorian was with 5,754 votes (15.6 percent). In the Glendale Unified School District Board race incumbent Boger had 11,011 or 31.3 percent of the votes, while Nahabedian won her seat with 7,575 or 21.5 percent of the vote. In the Glendale Community College Board race Peroomian came in second with 8,558 votes or 30.9 percent of the votes trailing frontrunner Tony Tartaglia who received 10,699 votes or 38.7 percent of the votes.
