Armenian Judoist Wins Silver Medal in Europe Championship

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Ashot Danielian, an Armenian judoist (74 kg) from Stepanakert in Nagorno-Karabakh won the silver medal of the European Championship being held in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has become the vice champion of Europe. In other sporting news, President Robert Kocharian Wednesday met with Armenian weightlifters and their coaches who won the European Championship in Strasbourg in late April. Kocharians press office said the president congratulated the athletes on their brilliant victory and thanked them for granting momen’s of glory to Armenia’s by their performance. Kocharian said he was especially proud of the women weightlifters who won gold and silver medals. President of the Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukian attributed this success partly to Kocharians attention to development of national sports. In Strasbourg Armenia’s won 18 medals, 10 gold and 8 silver.
