YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Education and science minister Levon Mkrtchian Monday commended the Diaspora research and teaching center, an affiliation of the ministry, for a training course designed for Armenian Diaspora teachers.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, the minister said it was developed based on major requiremen’s set for Armenia-based teachers.
This year, more than 40 teachers from 12 countries arrived to take the course.
The goal of this program is to prepare teachers for Armenian-language educational institutions abroad. It began in 2000 and thus far has attracted 260 teachers from different countries.
In other educational news, Armenian deputy foreign minister Armen Bayburtian met Monday with a group of Diaspora Armenian students who are having training in Armenia on the initiative of the Armenian General Benevolent Union.
Armenian Foreign Ministry press service told Armenpress that the deputy minister presented the students Armenia’s foreign policy priorities. He also discussed Armenia’s relations with neighboring countries.
The students were also interested in Armenia’s involvement in international organizations. They also discussed issues relating to the educational sphere of the country.
