Israel, Azerbaijan Aim to Boost Relations

BAKU (Armenpress)–Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman met on Thursday with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh and spoke to them about cooperation between the two countries in the war on terror and the possibility of establishing Azerbaijani commercial representation in Israel.
They also decided to set up a committee to try and tighten relations between the two countries on issues of energy and technology.
In a related news Josef Shagal, chairman of Israel-Azerbaijan Association, who is visiting Azerbaijan, said today Azerbaijan, Turkey and Israel are planning an economic forum in Israeli Eilat resort town.
He was quoted by the Trend news agency as saying that Turkey is following closely the development of ties between Azerbaijan and Israel.”
He said bilateral trade is supposed to hit $2 billion by the end of the year. He said now the trade is $1.3 billion, $1 billion of which is accounted for by Azerbaijani oil sales to Israel.
