YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Foreign Policy Commission of the European Parliament on September 19 registered the proposals for changes to be made in the regular resolution of the process of Turkey’s membership to EU.
The commission has also registered proposed changes forwarded to them by the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJ).
“The changes we have suggested refer to Armenia’s isolation by Turkey, Armenian genocide, inner state in Turkey connected with anti-Armenian moods,” said Hilda Choboyan, the Executive Director of the EAFJ, adding that after the discussion of the changes the commission will designate a voting day for the proposals.
An official from the Brussels Office of the EAFJ reported that a number of parliamentarians of the European parliament spoke in favor of mentioning the issue on the Armenian genocide in the resolution.
The current resolution for Turkey’s membership to EU does not mention the Armenian genocide at all.
