Yerevan CATO Director Arthur Khachatryan Visits U.S. Embassy

Yerevan–California Trade Office Yerevan Director, Dr. Arthur Khachatryan, recently visited the U.S. Embassy in Armenia to meet with Charge d’Affaires Rudolf Perina and his management team.
The meeting was attended by Joseph Pennington, Deputy Chief of Mission and Marko Velikonja, Economic Officer. Khachatryan briefed the Charge d’Affaires and his team on the structure of the trade office, its mission, recent activities and future plans as well as CATO’s recent reauthorization’suntil the end of 2009’sby the CA government.
Khachatryan talked about how CATO helps promote trade between California and Armenia as well as networking business between both states. He also discussed plans for an upcoming California trade mission to Armenia. Perina and Khachatryan reviewed the business and legal environment, barriers to business development and overall economic situation in Armenia. Khachatryan also invited the U.S. officials to visit CATO’s Yerevan offices and both parties agreed to expand the relations between the U.S. Embassy and CATO.
“We are looking forward to developing a strong working relationship between CATO and the US embassy in Armenia,” said Johny Nalbandian, International Trade Specialist for CATO’s Los Angeles satellite office. “We wish Charge d’Affaires Rudolf Perina, his staff, and the U.S. government the best of luck in strengthening the economic ties between the great state of California, Armenia and the CIS.”
