An Evening of Celebration Dedicated to the Works of Hamazkayin Music Committee

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society’s Music Committee.
For the last 20 years, the Music Committee has worked diligently in the pursuit of its prime mission of discovering, collecting, recording, publishing, and disseminating Armenian music. To this end, the Committee has already published Ganatchian Choral Works: An Anthology (1991), Komitas: Rustic Scenes (1992), Armenian Romance Songs, Vol. 1 (1996), Armenian Romance Songs, Vol. 2 (1999), Parsegh Ganatchian: Complete Works (3-CD set, 2000), Alexan Menakian: Children’s Songs (2003), Avedis Nazarian: Children’s Songs and Operetta (2004), Yetvart Hagopian: Children’s Songs (2004), Sayat Nova: Piano Arrangemen’s (2005), Komitas: Piano Works (2-CD set, 2006), and Aram Khachaturian: Complete Piano Works (4-CD set, 2007). Our next projects, Sayat Nova: Complete Collection of Armenian Songs (2-CD set) and Yeraz Barig (DVD) by Parsegh Topjian, a children’s musical, are ready for release. The Music Committee has also organized numerous concerts and recitals.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of its founding, the Hamazkayin Music Committee has organized an Evening of Celebration dedicated to its achievemen’s. The program includes a DVD presentation of the activities of the Committee, a light dinner, and a recital featuring renowned pianist Armen Babakhanian, the artist performing the above listed piano works, especially invited from Armenia on this occasion.
The event will take place on Friday, November 9, 2007, at 7:30 p.m., at the Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Chapter’s Baghdassarian-Shahinian Hall, 3347 N. San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90065.
