Iranian, Armenian Defense Ministers Discuss Boosting Cooperation

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian defense minister Mikael Harutunian welcomed today his Iranian counterpart Mustafa Mohamad Najjar. The Iranian defense minister and his entourage arrived here on Tuesday for a three-day visit.
A spokesman for Armenian defense ministry said after a face-to-face meeting the ministers were joined by senior Armenian and Iranian military officials.
He said the two men’stated that the recent meeting of Armenian and Iranian presidents have given a fresh push to promoting and deepening economic and cultural relations between the two countries, and will serve as an impetus for cooperation in the military and military-technical area.
The ministers then exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, particularly stressing that both countries have cultural similarities and can implement programs in the military and military-technical fields as well.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict settlement, Major General Mustafa Mohammad Najjar noted that Iran’s position on the issue has not changed: the issue must be solved in a peaceful way.
The ministers also discussed the Armenian-Iranian relations in various spheres, the current state and perspectives for enlarged cooperation.
