Javakhk Schools Reject Georgia’s Official Armenian Language and History Textbooks

AKHALKALAK, Georgia (Armenpress)–Armenian schools in Javakhk rejected Armenian language and history textbooks prepared and published by the Georgian Ministry of Education for the seventh and 10th grade level.
“We use old textbooks to teach the Armenian language in our schools. Will the new textbooks be up to par with our educational standards?” asked Rouzanna Tepoyan, the vice-principal of the Hovannes Toumanian School in Akhalkalak.
She stressed that the teaching of the Armenian language was a means to keep the Armenian heritage alive in students and contended that the new textbooks might not convey the same sentiment.
