YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The National Statistical Services reported Tuesday that Armenia’s population in 2008 has reach 3,229,900.
The report stated that the country’s urban population is at 2,069,300, while its rural population is at 1,160,600.
The country’s permanent population grew by 7,000 people last year, reported the National Statistical Services. The report said that newborn babies accounted for 26 percent of the increase, while a drop out-migration balance also had an effect.
Overall, 40,141 babies were born in 2007, which is 7 percent more than in 2006. Also 27,400 deaths were registered.
