BAKU (Armenpress)–Baku will make every effort for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azeri ambassador to Russia, Polad Bul-Buloglu, said in an interview with the Russian daily Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
According to Bul-Buloglu, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev said that force will be a decisive factor in seeking solutions to many disputed issues. But Azerbaijan is nevertheless working to settle the conflict peacefully, the ambassador noted, adding, that the president does not want young men to die on both sides.
Bul-Buloglu also spoke about the Azerbaijani drafted resolution on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, which was passed earlier this month by the UN General Assembly and denounced by the Russian, French and US Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
"By voting against the resolution, the co-chair countries have created a very complex situation," he said. "I cannot imagine how the co-chairs could visit Azerbaijan again. The key principle of peace brokers, which is neutrality, was violated."
The Azeri ambassador told Neavisimaya Gazeta that he believed East European countries, such as Romania and Poland, should be involved in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process. But he noted that little or no progress is possible without Russia or the US, both of which are key actors in the region.
