YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An ad-hoc government commission set up to prepare nationwide celebrations in honor of the 100th birthday of the late Catholicos of All Armenia’s Vazken I convened for its first session on Wednesday.
The government press office said the commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamian, discussed a draft program of 15 events dedicated to the occasion.
Some of the events scheduled for the year include, a conference to be held in the summer, a holy music festival, and a photo exhibit. A full collection of the late Catholicos’s works will also be published.
Central streets in Yerevan and Etchmiadzin will also be renamed after the late Catholicos, while scholarships in the name of His Holiness will be established at the Theological faculty of the Yerevan State University will, the press office said.
