STEPANAKERT (Armenpress)–An Armenian-Nagorno-Karabakh inter-parliamentary cooperation commission tasked with boosting ties between the two countries’ parliamen’s convened in Stepanakert Friday to discuss a host of issues from the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict resolution process to legislative reforms to bring Karabakh in line with European standards.
The commission is also set to discuss dual citizenship issues.
Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Tigran Torosian arrived in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republics capital Thursday at the head of a parliamentary delegation to take part in the session.
The press office of the Nagorno-Karabakh parliament told Armenpress that Torosian and his Nagorno-Karabakh counterpart, Ashot Ghulian, met evening in the Karabakh parliament building Thursday where they discussed the imperative need to boost ties between the two parliamen’s.
They were said also to discuss a set of other issues related to cooperation between the two parliamen’s.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian who left for Stepanakert Friday is expected to have meetings with Nagorno-Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan, Karabakh National Assembly Chairman Ghulyan, Karabakh Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan and Karabakh Foreign Minister Georgy Petrosyan.
The inter-parliamentary commission is set to discuss current developmen’s in the Karabakh Conflict resolution process, which has recently seen some turbulence as Azerbaijan has been attempting to remove the conflict from the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group and threatening to take back the Armenian territory by military force.
